Answer: What is the meaning of life? How can I find purpose, fulfillment and satisfaction in life? Do I have the potential to achieve something that has lasting meaning? Many people never stop to consider whether the meaning of life. They looked back and could not understand why their relationship fall apart and why they feel so empty even though they have managed to achieve what they aspire. One of the baseball players whose names are recorded in the Baseball Hall of Fame was asked what he hoped people tell him when he first started playing baseball. He replied, "I wish someone would tell me that when you reach the top, there is not nothing." Many of life was empty goal after being chased in vain for years.
In our humanistic society, people pursue many goals, consider that in it they will get the meaning. Some of these goals include: business success, wealth, good relationships, sex, entertainment, do good to others, etc.. People testified that when they reach their goals for wealth, relationships and fun, within them there in the void, the empty feeling that can not be satisfied by anything.
The writer of Ecclesiastes describes this feeling when he said, "sheer futility, the futility of mere, ... all is in vain." The author has inestimable wealth, wisdom beyond the people in his day and today, He has hundreds of women, palaces and gardens that make the other kingdoms of jealousy, the best food and wine, and all forms of entertainment. One time he said, everything was after his heart desired. But then he concludes, "living under the sun" (live with the attitude that life is just like what we see and feel) is a mere vanity! Why is there such a void? Because God created us for something beyond what we can experience in the world today. Of God, Solomon said, "He gives eternity in their hearts ..." In our hearts, we are constantly aware that the world today is not everything.
In Genesis, the first book in the Bible, we find that God created man in His image (Genesis 1:26). This means we are more like God than with other creations. We also find that before man fell into sin and cursed the earth: (1) God created humans as social beings (Genesis 2:18-25); (2) God gave man work (Genesis 2:15); (3) God has fellowship with man (Genesis 3:8) and (4) God gave man dominion over the earth (Genesis 1:26). What does all of this? I believe that God wants all of this increase in life satisfaction, but these (especially the fellowship with God) has been corrupted by the Fall into sin, and also by a curse on this earth (Genesis 3).
In the book of Revelation, the last book of the Bible, at the end of many events that happened in the last days, God reveals that He will destroy the heavens and the earth and brings eternity to create the heavens and new earth. At that time He will restore the fellowship with people who are redeemed. Most of mankind will be punished and thrown into the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:11-15). At this time a curse on this earth be removed, and there will be no more sin, sorrow, sickness, death, pain, etc. (Revelation 21:4). And people believe will inherit all things, God will dwell with them and they will be His children (Revelation 21:7). Thus we fulfill the cycle in which God created us to fellowship with Him, mankind fell into sin and decided fellowship; in God's eternity is to restore full relations with the people who he looked decent. Life in this world and get everything just to die and separated from God forever is worse than vanity! But God has made a way in which eternal happiness is not only possible (Luke 23:43), but also to satisfy the present life and meaning.
Now, how eternal happiness and "heaven on earth" can be obtained?
